Irish Tea gathers Rainbow Bridge supporters for silent auction donations

Mary McNicholas opened her home recently to Rainbow Bridge for an Irish Tea, as a gift gathering for the Intergenerational Idols benefit, April 19, at Teiyko Loretto Heights University Theatre.
The benefit evening begins with a silent auction that precedes the play about the lives of those in nursing homes, bringing attention to the isolation most of these patients feel. Almost 70 percent of such residents get on visit a year, while on the other end of the age spectrum, many youth are left on their own socially and feel uncared about by their own communities. Bringing together these two generations is the mission of Rainbow Bridge, offering mutually rewarding relationships also for families, businesses, community organizations and individuals who want to help improve the lives of socially isolated seniors.
The evening includes not only the Intergenerational Idols play but also performances by the David Taylor Dance Company, St. Mary’s academy students, the Rockyette Dance ensemble, pianist Bertha Haugen and soloist LaFawn Biddle.
